Our union contract provides us with better pay than any of the other yards in our area. In fact, our yard sets the prevailing wage for central Massachusetts. We make a few dollars more per hour, and in some cases five dollars per hour more than the yards near us that don’t have Teamster representation!

With the Teamsters, we have a union contract. We are receiving regular raises and there is no favoritism. Our local union has our back if there is a problem at work. We also get paid for all our time – including training.

The non-union drivers have started to notice the better wages and benefits we receive, and they’ve expressed interest in joining the Teamsters. I’m also glad to report that the town of Londonderry, which is also an STA yard, just voted to go union. They saw our benefits package and they wanted in. Other towns in New Hampshire are also organizing with the Teamsters.

Thanks to the Teamsters, we have a grievance system in place that provides us with job security. Anytime a manager takes disciplinary action against us, we have a union representative who is there to advocate on our behalf and do everything possible to protect our jobs. Without a union we would be at-will employees who can be fired at any time for any reason.

Without our union we could get our hours cut at any time for any reason - or even no reason at all. Having a union contract has made our jobs so much better, and if you join the union it will improve your job, too.
