(WASHINGTON) – School bus drivers and monitors at Illinois Central School Bus in Aurora and Montgomery, Ill., have voted by an overwhelming 4 to 1 margin to join Teamsters Local 777 in Lyons, Ill.
(Lyons, Ill.) – Teamsters Local 777 and the Cook-Illinois Corporation have reached a deadlock in negotiating a contract for the 270 school bus drivers and monitors who work at Alpha School Bus, a subsidiary of Cook-Illinois.
(WASHINGTON) – Teamsters Local 777 and Teamsters Local 179 members in Illinois have overwhelmingly approved the first-ever master agreement with Illinois Central School Bus, the fifth-largest provider of school bus transportation in the United States.
National Express (NEX), parent company to Durham School Services in the U.S., has opened an office in Germany and announced plans for expansion in that country. The Teamsters engaged the two German unions who represent ground transport workers (ver.di and EVG) informing them about NEX’s anti-union behavior in the U.S.
The Teamsters Union is saddened to announce the passing of Steve Edwards. Steve was a strategic researcher, campaigner and a key member of the union’s successful global school bus campaign. Steve passed away after a sudden and brief illness on December 3. He was 61 years old.
Lettie Nash, a 30-year school bus driver, was featured in the news recently for her generosity to her students. Nash is a member of Teamsters Local 191 in Bridgeport, Conn.
