A Union Gives Us a Voice
Too often children and school bus workers are put at risk because bus companies take dangerous shortcuts.
Buses aren’t maintained in safe, working condition and drivers and monitors aren’t given proper training and information about the children in their care.
We believe that the best way to improve school bus safety is for drivers and monitors to have a powerful voice and protection through the Teamsters.
- Teamster bus members are protected and can speak freely about safety concerns;
- Teamster bus members can negotiate contract provisions that give them the right to refuse to drive an unsafe bus;
- Teamster bus members have access to information about the laws and standards that help protect their safety; and
- Teamster bus members become part of a huge nationwide network dedicated to school bus safety.
The best way to protect ourselves, our children and hold employers accountable for school bus safety is by forming a union with the Teamsters.
School bus drivers have a protected right to speak out about safety concerns. Find out about school bus driver “whistleblower” protections here.
Fill out the Teamsters School Bus Safety survey to share your safety experiences. The survey is confidential and will be used to help us better serve the students we transport. Contact us with your questions or concerns.
